KUBEN museum and archive

If you visit Arendal, you must stop by KUBEN and see the beautiful exhibitions that show the city and the region's exciting history. In several of the exhibitions, the audience can try different activities.
One of the best ways to learn about the history and culture of a city is by going sightseeing. But what if you get all you need to know under one roof? Make the most of the trip to Arendal by including a visit to KUBEN in your itinerary. Established in 1832, the museum houses an extensive collection of artefacts, photos, and archives related to the city’s past. As there is so much to discover here, you can easily spend a few hours here strolling from one exhibition to another. Wonder how digital records are preserved today? Why did a slave ship get wrecked of outside Arendal? Get the answers to these questions when you go through the varied range of exhibitions at KUBEN. The exhibitions are both educational and interactive here, making the whole experience an enjoyable one. If you’re bringing children along, they’ll have a blast viewing the ‘Childhood’ exhibit. You can travel back in time and experience childhood in the 1910s, 1960s and 1990s. You get to participate in fun and engaging activities such as raising sails, singing to the hairbrush , joining morning gymnastics, and watching an episode of a TV series in black and white! In addition to the ‘Childhood’ exhibit, children can also participate in the treasure hunt and receive a small prize at the end! What’s more, your tiny tots can enter the museum for free! From July onwards, children can create their own crab line on KUBEN’s summer workshop. What’s more, all children under the age of 16 have free admission to the museum! The centre houses a cafeteria, which offers snacks like freshly made waffles, ice cream, beverages, and other refreshments. Make use of the museum shop to buy fun old-fashioned toys and games for your loved ones.
